Christmas Gift Guide // Stocking Fillers

Whatever your age, I wholeheartedly believe that stockings should be mandatory. As I get older I feel like I have to fight for the right to a stocking from my Mum and convince her that you are never too old. For me, it's one of my favourite things about Christmas; waking up in the morning to a stocking - the same one I've had since I was a youngen - full of treats. Our stockings at home are always fully of great, random little bits and I love it. Even the printed pack of tissues I seem to get year in year out. Stockings don't have to be expensive, they're just fun and bring joy to Christmas morning. For my last Christmas Gift Guide of 2016, I have put together a few bits I would love to find in my stocking that I am sure others would love too. Stockings are great for when you don't want to get someone a large present as you can just fill them with a ton of cute bits to prolong the present opening; I think I may even try to do one for my Mum this year too.

Christmas Gift Guide // Stocking FillersStockings are all about quirky gifts and the Unicorn Tape Dispenser is something fun that will bring joy to unicorn lovers everywhere, or even those simply obsessed with quirky stationery. Whether you’re a big kid or little kid, we all need a reminder that unicorns are real and what better way than having one permanently stare at you at your desk? Let’s get tape happy and rainbow everything! £9.99, thepresentfinder.co.uk.

A stocking would not be complete (or Christmas for that matter) without a few make-up bits, especially for the avid beauty lover. It’s even better when you find cute make-up gifts that are simply a bargain. The award this year definitely has to go to the Sleek Say The Magic Word gift, which includes four mini Sleek Matte Me liquid lipsticks. This was a hard one to track down, because at £5 (boots.com), everyone wanted to snap it up and it sold out online super quick.

Soap & Glory were also bringing the make-up gift offering up a notch with the Khol-Eyed Kaleidoscope, an actual sparkly kaleidoscope that includes three kohl eyeliners (smoulder, foil in love and what a night). This is a really fun gift, which continues the entertainment even after the liners have been removed. £10, boots.com.

A stocking would not be a stocking if it didn’t include a lip balm; that’s a mandatory inclusion, surely? When it comes to lip balm, you need to spice it up a bit to make it a wee bit more exciting. This is where the queens of the balm, Burt’s Bees, swarm in with its cute bauble gifts. The one featured is the Burt’s Bees Classic Pomegranate Gift Set, which includes the much loved 100% natural pomegranate lip balm and classic lemon butter cuticle cream. You can even hang the bauble on the tree - result! £6.99, burtsbees.co.uk.

If you don’t get LUSH for Christmas, did Christmas even happen? This is another mandatory thing for me every single year. LUSH = Christmas. Plus, when these bad boys are in your stocking it makes it smell incredible! Two of my picks for stockings (but let’s be honest, any LUSH will do), are the Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar (£5.95), because uhmmm SNOW FAIRY SCENT, pinkness and bubbles suitable for all snow fairy princesses; and the Luxury Lush Pud (£4.25), because it makes your baths look so colourful and awesome, uk.lush.com.

Random little essentials are the best kind of stocking fillers. These again fit in more for make-up category, but are too cute not to include. I really love the idea of the L.A.B.2 Lash Out Loud Mascara Wands (£5.50, thisisbeautymart.com) for when you love a mascara formula but hate the wand it comes with. These include 12 disposable wands with four different brush styles.

For the younger make-up lover, the Superdrug Flutter Makeup Sponge (£1) is ideal and comes in the cutest packaging, while the Lip Balm (£1) from the Flutter range would be great for the slightly younger gift receiver too (available in dog and cat designs for animal lovers). There are also some really affordable make-up bits from MUA. Y’all can’t go wrong with these, superdrug.com.

Is it really a stocking if it doesn’t have hand cream in it? My pick this year? The KORRES Bergamot Pear Hand Cream, which combines the scent of bergamot blossom and sweet pear in a hydrating, non-oily, light textured hand cream ideal for everyday use. £7.65, johnlewis.com. Other great things to include are: The Vintage Cosmetic Company Makeup Headband (£5.95, thevintagecosmeticcompany.com); Weleda Skin Food (£6.95, weleda.co.uk); and the Smith & Cult Tainted Lip Stain (£24, spacenk.com)

And ultimately, no stocking would be complete without sweet treats, would it? Refreshers take me back to my childhood and I found this tube in Wilko. I always get a tube of sweets in my stocking, it’s always been somewhat a tradition with my Mum. I’m also partial to a chocolate Santa, or six. Chocolate coins, again mandatory in my eyes. How cute are the pudding coins I found? Also from good old Wilkos, I would definitely say check in-store if you have one near because the Christmas offering is pretty awesome, wilko.com

For the more sophisticated food gifting, I’d suggest turning to Crabtree & Evelyn. The Festive Spiced Tea (£8.50) is such a festive treat; while the selection of biscuits, Including these All Butter Spiced Ginger Biscuits (£5), are to die for, crabtree-evelyn.co.uk.
