MAKE-UP LOOK // GLO & RAY Autumnal Tones

I am just going to put it out there: I think Glo & Ray is a particularly underrated cosmetics brand. I have dabbled in the brand before, notably its lipsticks, but more recently I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some autumnal make-up bits from Glo & Ray that I wanted to share with you. I think a lot of us fall into the trap of sticking to what we’re used to, and that goes for both brands and shade combinations, but this season I really wanted to switch things up a bit...

I play it safe in autumn/winter; browny, bronzy hued eyes with a berry lip, which is totes beautiful, but get’s a bit boring, let’s face it. I wanted to explore new colours akin to what I do during the summer. While at the BeautyMART Transeasonal Press Day a few weeks ago, my eyes were drawn to the green and red tones teasing me from the Glo & Ray stand. I thought these colours were only fit for the Christmas tree, but I was wrong. Having blue eyes, apparently green tones are meant to emphasise my eye colour, and I really do kinda dig it. It’s so far from the green eyeliner I wore in my year 11 high school photo (yes, really), which definitely pleases me.

The core product I wanted to try was the Glo & Ray Mirage Mousse Eye Shadow (£11), which I have in two shades: Olive Garden and Maroon Earth, which harmoniously work together. These have a tendency to be quite sheer on first application, but they can be layered for deeper pigment and blend really well. I used a brush at first to blend the maroon into my crease and then patted on the green and blended together. Combined, they create a misty mirage effect with a hint of shimmer. These can obviously be intensified for an evening, but I kept it as natural as green can be.

I then paired the shadows with the Glo & Ray Sky Breaker Lasting Silky Eyeliner (£5.50) in the shade in Bloody Ruby. Now, I thought this was a lipliner at first until I read the words ‘eyeliner’ on the packaging. This scared me. Red, for the eyes? Could this work? I don’t hate it. I think I could have applied it better on the top, but really like how it lines the bottom lash line.

To complete the look I used the Glo & Ray La Amo Creamy Shimmer Lip Colour (£12), which I have used and loved before. This shade is Seduce, a gorgeous red for the autumn but slightly glossier than my matte alternatives. The lipstick features a light colour fitness complex alongside micro-shine particles to provide fuller looking lips. I actually think it makes my lips look fuller actually; they’re still tiny and squished, but good job at enhancing.
