Monthly Beauty Favourites // August

Guess what's back, back again? Oh yeahhh that would be this month's beauty favourites so tell a friend! AUGUST IS OVER, WTF. Christmas is now looming, as are many snuggly autumn times. Can I buy a coat, scarf and boots yet? Anyway, beauty favs this month; a few news ones thrown in, and a few that have been sat in my 'to try' drawer for ages that I have finally got around to trying. I have discovered some great products this month actually, which is always a bonus. I am definitely feeling the beauty seasonal dry up though, in the way that all the AW16 collections are out but the weather hasn't quite caught up yet. I don't feel I can rock a deep berry look just yet, however much I want to. I hate that inbetweeny seasonal stage, I always get uninspired and stick to the same kind of make-up/ beauty items. That is until the middle of September when I really deem myself autumn ready. SO let's do this, what have I been loving this month? Well, a mix of beauty, skincare and haircare actually... Also, stay tuned for my Monthly Favourites YouTube video which will be live on Sunday (I have included a few extra favourites).

Living Proof Timeless Shampoo & Conditioner (£23 each)*
OK, so this wonder hair duo is said to combat the signs of ageing for beautiful healthy hair at any age, however I presume this range is actually targeting the slightly older market. With that being said, the products have worked wonders for my - still fairly young - hair. When it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I will give anything a try and I already have a love for the Living Proof brand (who doesn't want hair like Jennifer Aniston?). The formula not only smells INCREDIBLE (very fruity and particularly juicy) but the products help combat the damage done by external factors such as heat, UV and chemical treatments, which I’ve had a plenty. The Timeless range also focuses on the internal factors that generally start to begin to show in your 30s (I haven’t got there just yet!) such as decreasing density, greying hair and poor fibre alignment.

The formula is powered by a fortifying complex, which is something I need in a product because it improves the hair’s strength and reduces breakage, which I am prone to. When used together, these make my hair feel super smooth and well cleansed, but also very hydrated. They get rid of any build up and keep my hair pretty fresh for the week (with a bit of dry shampoo thrown in mid-week obvs). An added extra? All of the products in the range are sulfate-free, silicone-free and colour safe. It also has to be said that I really like the Pre-Shampoo treatment in this range too. I may not be 30+, but this really is good for any hair, any age, even in your twenties so don’t always follow the marketing!

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette ($46)*
After meeting Kat Von D a month or so ago, there was no doubt that I was intrigued in her whole product range. I have previously used her rather renowned liquid lipsticks, but had never delved deeper into her product offering. After using this contour palette, I have been totally converted and now want to try everything she has to offer. As a pale lass, I am rather terrified of the proper contouring routine; I have only ever lightly contoured and never had a dedicated kit. Playing with this has been really fun and not only is the product really great in terms of formula and results, the palette comes with a handy how-to guide to show contouring newbs like me what to do and where to put product. I have seen a lot of contour palettes that have all been very warm and orange-toned so it’s nice to have slightly lighter and cooler toned powders to experiment with as they seem to suit my palor much more. I am overall impressed with this and the packaging, well that’s just beaut too!

Garnier Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water (£5.99)
OK, so micellar waters: nothing new; nothing groundbreaking, right? Well I think the new Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water from Garnier is kinda groundbreaking, because it combines two great ingredients for removing make-up, even stubborn make-up. I like to use a cleansing oil usually as a first cleanse to properly melt the products off my face, but this now just makes it so much easier, especially since no rinsing is required. I didn’t think my skin would tolerate the oil formula remaining on my skin, but I have - so far - had no issues. This also makes my skin feel super soft and nourished, and sometimes I can get a way without using a moisturiser after (I know, I’m naughty). I do like the original, but sometimes it made my face feel quite tight and it didn’t always get my eye makeup off, but now I have found this, I am never going back.

Gosh Lash Sculpting Fibre Mascara (£9.99)*
I LOVE Gosh, and as I have mentioned so many times before, it’s one of my favourite drugstore brands. I have used many GOSH mascaras in my time and have never felt disappointed. I think this new one may be my favourite though as it lengthens and curls my lashes to their limit without clumping or drying out and flaking. This isn’t one for volume, but if you’re after a jet black mascara that will lengthen your normally straight, sparse lashes, then this is one to try!

ps. I will be doing a GOSH giveaway soon on the blog so keep yo' eyes peeled!

Burberry Eyes Eye Colour Cream in Dusky Mauve (£25)*
As I mentioned in my Burberry post earlier this month, I am totes obsessed with Burberry Beauty, and more specifically these Eye Colour Creams. I need more and more, and - YEP - more. A whole collection is needed. This is a gorgeous colour and so easy and creamy to use that I have been turning to it most days when I have opted for an eye look. Totes worth the money!
