US Liquid Lipstick Haul // Using GoSend

Liquid lipsticks as of late have become as popular as the Kardashians and it took me a little while but I am now totally feeling the hype. I may not have any of the coveted Kylie Lip Kits, but I have delved into a few of the cult American liquid lipstick brands. Obviously the biggest qualm for us Brits is that many of the great liquid lipsticks out there are from across the pond and aren't the easiest to get hold of. This my friends is where a service like GoSend comes in particularly useful. They're like the fairy god mother for all beauty fanatics yearning to expand their US beauty stash. When GoSend got in touch to see if I would like to try out their service, I answered with no hesitation. I mean, come on, as if I was going to turn down the chance to get haulin' US styly. I had already purchased a couple of Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks a couple of months ago, so i thought I would try other brands that I'd heard a lot about...

GoSend Beauty Haul - Liquid Lipsticks
You can use GoSend as a free service, but I would say it's more beneficial to get the VIP monthly membership ($10 a month, $50 a year, or a 30 day free trial) as this ensures you get the best deal on delivery. You can order from the vast majority of retailers that they partner with across the US and all your deliveries get delivered free (and usually within two days) to the American address that GoSend provide you with (essentially a locker at GoSend HQ). All your purchases can then be packaged in one box and shipped over to the UK. This obviously saves you money on delivering everything individually from different retailers. Your GoSend locker is based in the state of Delaware, which is really clever because it's one of the US states where products aren't subject to sales tax. Once your order has been made in the US and reaches your locker, the GoSend team send you pictures of your purchase to make sure everything has arrived correctly and to your standard - I really liked this aspect of the service as it gave me peace of mind. You can release the goods in your locker at any time within 60 days (with membership), which means you can shop as and when and then combine it all into one international order.

GoSend also offers a personal shopping service called ShopAssist, which basically means you can create a shopping list of products that you wish to purchase from one or more brands, include the specifics of the product - like size or colour and the link to the item - and the GoSend personal shopping team will order for you instead of you having to order everything yourself.  This service is also handy for those retailers that don't accept UK/international cards. It's also worth noting that all Sephora orders must be done using ShopAssist, but you then get $5 off your order for doing so.

I ordered four liquid lipsticks that came to around $52 dollars, so I knew my parcel would be fairly light. GoSend does offer a shipping calculator to calculate extra delivery costs so you will have a pretty good idea of how much delivery will be. My shipping, as VIP user, would have cost me $14.03 for the GoTracked option (4-15 days) or $31.96 using DHL Express (1-5 business days). The cheaper option isn't available on the basic (free) account, however if I was using the basic account and used DHL Express my order would have cost me $45.12, or $32.59 if I used USPS (7-21 business days). Obviously, with every order from the US you gamble with the custom charges when it hits the UK, but luckily my parcel escaped those charges this time. If it hadn't it would have been around $15. My order arrived around a week and a half after I released my locker, which I thought was great considering such affordable delivery.

On to the fun bit, what did I buy?

I had heard so many bloggers and YouTubers rave about ColourPop so I knew I had to get my hands on a couple of the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip products. ColourPop is such a bargainous brand and these were $6* each! I got the shade Trap and BeDazzled, one neutral and one bright shade out of a million that I wanted to try. I may have to make another order soon! Trap is a gorgeous greyish mauve-nude with a slightly pink undertone. This is such a lovely colour for every day and the formula is really nice to apply - not patchy at all and surprisingly comfortable. Some may find the ColourPop formula really dry, but I think it depends on how hydrated your lips are. The Be Dazzled shade is a bright purple, which I absolutely adore the colour of, but the formula lets it down. I've heard a lot about darker shades of liquid lipstick being harder to work with so I guess that's a trait for darker hues. I just find it a little patchy and thicker in formula so it's hard to work quickly - it also crumbles a bit if layered too much. I'll keep trying to work with it though as the colour is amazing. Y'know I love my purple lipsticks.

Obviously, I couldn't bypass the chance of getting Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita ($20)*. There are so many shades from the range that I want, but I thought I would start with the classic. What I love about this is that it looks different on everybody. I searched swatches before buying and just couldn't believe how different it seemed in each one. I decided to take the gamble, and I actually really like it on me. It is in the rosy spectrum that I naturally gravitate towards, but this is more of a chestnut rose - very warming on the complexion and again, a great every day shade.

My Favourite out of the four I ordered though is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Soft Lilac ($20)*. I have been wanting JS Doll Parts for so long but every time I went to order it was out of stock, this lead me to researching similar shades from other brands. Soft Lilac is also comparable to Kat Von D Mother, which is another on my list. This is also the most comfortable formula out of the three brands, and one that actually lasts the longest on me. Soft Lilac is a beautiful deep violet pink shade, which almost has a 'vintage pink' feel about it. I am also very intrigued by ABH Catnip, which is a similar hue but that little bit darker.

What other liquid lipsticks/shades should I go for next?
