Trying New Brands // Too Faced Cosmetics

At the beginning of the year, I made a list of brands I wanted to try in 2016, and Too Faced was right at the top of that list. It's one that has been in the spotlight for a while, and one that made my eyes light up on packaging alone. Also, eyeshadows that smell of chocolate? i'm sold. This Too Faced trio is only the start, and I have been progressively making a mental note of everything else I want to try come payday, especially the Melted Liquid Lipsticks. For now though, I focused more on the eyes; specifically the cult Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (£19)* and the original Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (£39) - which I bought as part of a charity beauty sale so y'know good deed and all. I have also welcomed the Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer (£25)* into my stash with open arms.

The Chocolate Bar, for me, is my favourite out of my very small stash and I am so so happy that I made the splurge. Not only does it 100% smell like chocolate because of the cocoa powder-infused formula, but the shadows surpassed my expectations in terms of formula, they're incredible! I love the range of brown and neutrals, but also like the fact that there are purples and pinks included too. There is also a good mix of shimmers and mattes. I'm sure if you haven't got this, you've heard so much about it, and I can confirm that all the good things are true. My favourite shades are Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Hazelnut, Créme Brûlée and Haute Chocolate (most of which I used below). For highlighting the brow bone, White Chocolate is a good choice if you want a matte shade, however my personal favourite is Champagne Truffle for that shimmery glow.

The Better Than Sex Mascara has been a game changer for me, and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually rate mascaras. I have short, sparse and rather straight lashes so I was pleasantly surprised to see it have a great effect. The hourglass-shaped wand separates, curls and volumises lashes, while the carbon black, collagen infused formula can be layered for your desired look. I like to layer this with two or three coats to get the most dramatic look my lashes will permit, and actually, it works really well without clumping or flaking. I'd say the formula is on the drier side, which I actually prefer as it can adhere and stretch the lashes rather than them being super wet. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out. If you like your waterproof formulas, the brand is releasing one very soon!

It comes at no surprise to me that the Sun Bunny Bronzer is one of the brand's most popular products. The dual-toned product comprises a rich warm bronze hue and a slightly pinker highlighting shade for the perfect sun kissed look. I find this works amazingly on paler skin tones and can be built up to mimic that of a natural tan. I like to use the deeper shade as more of a contour and then swirl my brush in both shades for an all-over glow.
