The Hungover Skincare Edit // Products For Radiant Skin

I'm not one to go out on a drinking binge on a regular basis, but when I do I go all out. Last night I painted my face with so much make-up that I resembled a circus act (in a good way...I think) and proceeded to get dressed up to celebrate my housemate's birthday. We hit a few bars in Clapham and ended the night in Vodka Revs, which actually - to my surprise - was pretty decent. The music was a throwback to a time when I actually relished going out clubbing - I'm talking all those great club classics and 00s' tunes -  it was a blast. I dropped it hard on the dance floor; I must have thought I was Christina in her Dirty video or something (hysterically not at all as sexy) and flicked my hair like I was a L'Oréal hair ambassador - again, not as elegant. I drank copious amounts of gin, ended up in McDonalds and scoffed a Big Mac on the rowdy bus home. As you can imagine, I woke up in the early hours of the morning with a splitting head and a mouth that resembled that of a camels (well I presume...). My face was a reminder of the previous hours, with black smeared around my eyes and lipstick smudged on my chin - my drunk cleansing routine cannot be noted as a skill, that's for sure. In light of this, I had to inject the love back into my skin and turned to the below products to help me do so. However well you remove your make-up after a night out, I feel it always looks lacklustre and screams out for some attention. This inspired today's post, whereby I have put together a little skincare edit for hungover skin. Your skin will thank you after!

Products for Hungover skin
For the first cleanse I went in with the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel (£28)*, which I am so nearly out of but intent on using every last drop. This is a great cleanser for making you feel a bit more awake and injecting radiance back into the skin. For the second cleanse I went in with a very similar product - in terms of formula - which is the Alpha H Liquid Laser Cleansing Gel (£35.95)*. This ensures I have every last bit of grime off of my face ready for further pampering.

I don't know why, but I find after a night out or when I have worn a lot of base products, my skin seems to have a higher build up of dead skin cells and starts to look particularly flakey in places. I have been trialing the OSKIA Micro Exfoliating Balm (£48, 50ml)*, which works wonders at buffing dead and tired skin cells by using the tiniest silica and MSM particles. This can be quite a strong exfoliator if used on its own so I'd suggest only using the tiniest amount and emulsifying with water to get your desired consistency. After using this, my skin definitely appears more radiant and unified in tone. As a chemical alternative, I recommend the NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads (£12.99 for 60).

Liz Earle Brightening Mask, Alpha H Liquid Laser, OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel, Heal Gel Eye
No skin pampering sesh would be complete without a good mask. Since we're focusing on brightening hungover skin, my top pick would be the Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask (£15)*, which works to instantly brighten dull skin. I love how fast acting this mask is as you don't have to wait around forever to wash it away. After I have used this I will give my face a little spritz of the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (£6, 30ml spritzer), which is a step I always do in any skincare routine just to freshen and cool down my face.

Serum wise, I have been rekindling my love for the Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum (£30)*, which I have previously raved about and love for heightening my skin's moisture content; and for eyes, the HEALGEL Eye serum (£32)*, which is so cooling and hydrating/ especially great for tackling under eye puffiness (which is the gift that keeps on giving after a night out).
