The best things in life are free:
MasterCard Priceless London at the V&A

We have all heard the saying ‘the best things in life are free’ and that certain moments in our lives that evoke the feeling of happiness are often priceless. In light of this notion, MasterCard has created its PricelessCities programme, offering MasterCard cardholders ‘priceless’ experiences in the capital with access to exclusive offers and experiences. There are currently 37 cities offering aforementioned experiences, and London is one of them; offering private access to the city’s most renowned museums, West End shows, Michelin starred dinning and Priceless Gigs with global music acts. The only way to attend is to win tickets via competitions or be invited by the MasterCard team, so I felt very grateful to be invited along for a good time at the V&A Shoes: Pleasure & Pain exhibition, without spending a penny.

I very rarely venture out to the free sites that London has to offer, the V&A being one of them, so was elated to experience the culture of my own city. I also love shoes, so there was no saying no. If you didn’t get to explore the exhibition, it looks at the extremes of footwear from around the world, presenting 200 pairs of shoes, ranging from a sandal decorated in gold leaf originating from ancient Egypt, to elaborate designs by contemporary footwear designers: I am talking past-season Vivienne Westwood, Charlotte Olympia, Sophia Webster and Jimmy Choo, among others.

During the evening we were treated to a shoe workshop, where we got to up cycle the shoes we were wearing. I decided to jazz up the buckles on my glitter-soled Boohoo sandals with pink fur pipe cleaners - and I must say I have worn them out in public since, I think they rock - however I can see how others may disagree aha! Other activities included a discussion with shoe designer Natacha Marro, who has consequently designed for the likes of Lady Gaga, Grace Jones and Gwen Stefani; drag queen performances and a dance performance from Hot Heels.

I would definitely recommend the programme as it’s always great to experience life’s little wonder moments without giving your MasterCard a bashing! You can check out upcoming events here.
