July Beauty Favourites

1 August, excuse me, what is this craziness? WHERE IS TIME GOING? Anyway, with every new month comes a new beauty favourites post. This month I have enjoyed delving into new beauty products, as well as reviving some old favourites. Majority is make-up, with one super lovely skincare product thrown in for good measure. I hope this inspires you to dig deep into your rather large make-up collection to find some hidden gems you'd forgotten about. Don't worry, we're all guilty of it.

001: Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm (£38)*- In my last few posts I've expressed my need to try a balm cleanser and this month I have finally had the chance to try one. When I was treated to a massage at the new Neal's Yard Remedies Wimbledon Store, the press team kindly left me a gift at reception in the form of the brand's Wild Rose Beauty Balm. I had heard so much about this, and had tried it before when my friend had it, but I never knew you could use it as a cleanser. It comes in a lovely, and rather handy, little pot along with a spatula and cleansing cloth. I have been using this as part of a more indulgent routine at the weekends, and a couple of times during the week, and I love it. It melts away make-up, warms up into a lovely oil and rids my make-up quickly and efficiently. The smell is also rather delectable.

002: Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (£5.49) - Yes, I am late to the party with this one, but after running out of my concealer, I hurried to Boots to pick up a new one, and this just caught my eye. I had heard a lot of people raving about the foundation, however all the shades were just too dark, hence picking up the concealer. The concealer shades seem to be a bit lighter than the foundation counterpart, however I find it only really works well under my eyes. It really brightens that area and conceals dark circles well, but it's a tad dark for covering spots, it seems to just draw more attention to them. This will be repurchased though, it's nearly gone.

003: Library of Fragrance Pina Colada (£15, 30ml) - I was so ecstatic to see this in a recent Perfume Discovery Box that it has been the only sample included that I have used so far. I cannot put it down, it smells exactly like a Pina Colada: simply summer, pineapple goodness in a bottle. I get so many compliments when I wear this that I will definitely be purchasing the full size when it's gone - this is a 15ml sample which is super generous!

004: Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle (£14, full size) - I received this sample in a recent Birchbox, and I must admit, I only started using it when I ran out of my Unite Leave-in Conditioner. I must say, I am happy I did. It's great at de-tangling my tresses and smells like coconuts, which is always an added bonus. The only annoying thing with this is that the pump is a bit awkward, it's hard to explain but you can't continuously click and pump, you have to do one, release, and do another. You can get this in the Birchbox shop, so it's definitely one to look out for when you're hair is in dire need of a leave-in conditioner.

005: KIKO Milano Wet & Dry Eyeshadow in 219 (£4.40) - I bought this last year and for a while, continuously used it. After experimenting with other shadows, some also from KIKO, this ended up in the back of the Muji storage. This past month, I guess because the weather has been nice and I love pinky shadows in the summer, it has resurfaced. The wet and dry formula is probably one of the best I have tried, and I definitely love using it more with a wet brush - it's super pigmented and creamy, and catches the light beautifully. My friend constantly asks what is on my eyes when I wear this. I keep meaning to go back and get some more shades.

006: MAC Cosmetics Velvet Teddy (£15.50) - Since I have been going all out on my eyes this month, I've wanted to keep my lips pretty neutral, therefore have gravitated a number of times to the classic that is MAC Velvet Teddy. I don't need to say much about this, but if you haven't got it in your collection, you need it.

  1. I also received the Beauty protector Protect & detangle and I was surprised to find I really like it and am considering buying a full size bottle. The design of the bottle really isn't great and I think based on this I (incorrectly) thought the product might not be very good. Just shows you not to judge a product by it's bottle! x
