August Beauty Favourites

It's that time again for the routinely monthly beauty favourites, and without sounding like a broken record, I cannot quite believe another month has been and gone. A friend and I were reminiscing today, and we just can't actually remember what we've done for the past how many months since last Christmas, and now Christmas is being spoken of and we're lost for words. Anyway, this month has been a good one for discovering new products to add to the never ending 'til death do us part' list. I've found a new holy grail eyebrow product, while also jumping on the bandwagon of a much loved, raved about foundation. I have also been loving an innovative skincare product that helps me achieve the glowing-from-within look, without getting pregnant, or enduring the unfavourable presence of scorching weather. I've also, if you haven't heard me say recently, been converted to lip glosses, and a certain one in particular...

A picture of make-up and hair products

001: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (£8.99) - I think it was in my last favourites that I mentioned how in love I had fallen with the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, and I grumbled over how annoying it was that the matching foundation's lightest shade (which I thought was Ivory) was too dark for my pale skin - so after a recent trip to Superdrug, I was elated to find the foundation available in the shade Porcelain. This is a perfect match for my skin tone, and I absolutely adore the finish it provides. I was definitely happy to discover this gem after months of seeing others rave about it's ability to transform skin. I am not one to usually fall for a drugstore foundation, but this is quickly becoming the foundation I grab while in a hurry in the morning.

002: Rodial Glamobrow in ash brown (£22)* - A few weeks a go I was packing to take a trip back to my parents and I realised, while applying my make-up, that my favourite Soap & Glory Archery eyebrow pencil had come to the end. I managed to get my eyebrows on before that happened (praise the lord!) but when I got to work I was fretting over what I was going to do the following day as I had a party to go to and no time to get to a Boots, so when this new product from Rodial landed on my desk, I couldn't have been more relieved and thankful - I literally shouted to everyone in my office that everything was going to be alright because I could leave the house with my eyebrows on. I believe this is a fantastic dupe for the aforementioned Soap & Glory product, and - although I haven't yet tried - the Anastasia Brow Wiz. The nib is really fine and the ash brown shade matches my brows really well. I think I actually prefer the shade to the one I had from Soap & Glory; it's not too warm, nor too grey. The Rodial Glamobrow is available in Ash Blonde, Ash Brown and Dark Ash Brown.

003: Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster (£20)* - Now, I have raved and raved over how amazing the Hylamide SubQ serum was, so I was excited to learn more about the brand's new Booster series (I wrote about them in detail on DIARY directory here). I chose to try the Glow Radiance Booster, which is a serum that targets dull skin without the ageing damage of DHA or UV rays. Perfect for a fellow paley like me who endures no benefit from basking in the sun. The formula contains keta-sugar to help develop a tan in two days, and melanin hexapeptides to boost the skin's natural pigment in time. I found this a great little product to help me look a little more glowy and sun kissed, and used it during a time when I was fake tanning, so I didn't have to put tan on my face. It's super natural and smells like an afternoon spent in the sun (you know the mixture of suncream and other facial products? that.) I will continue to support DECIEM brands because the innovations that keep on coming are genius - the perfect combination of science and beauty.

004: Living Proof Prime Style Extender (£18)* - I have had this product sitting among my product stash for a long time, and since I have been getting into blow drying my hair recently, I thought I would give it a go. From what I understand, this product is meant to be to hair what a face primer is to make-up; something to make your hair style last twice as long as it would without use. I find this makes my hair super soft and my cuticles so much more tame. It is also said to weightlessly repel dirt and oil, resulting in cleaner hair for longer. It's a simple product that does the trick, nothing confusing or too high maintenance. The Prime Style Extender can be used with other styling products or alone - the latter works best for me, along with a tiny bit of oil on my dry ends.

005: ARTDECO All in One Mascara (£13.75, full size) - I am not really sure where I got this from as I found it in one of my boxes, however I felt drawn to it this month - that maybe because I am hormonal and attaching myself to mini things (replacing a baby for a mascara can't be all that bad, I suppose HA!). I think what I like best about this is that it does what you would hope: everything in one. My lashes look volumised, extended and hold a curl (albeit with an extra bit of eyelash curling action), which means I don't have to use two different mascaras like I usually do.

006: Burberry Kisses Gloss (£21)* - I won't go into too much detail on this as I mentioned why I love it in this post, but I do have to reiterate how amazing it is. This product, and solely this product, has changed my opinion of glosses, which I previously perceived to be sticky, gloomy yuckiness. There are so many colours in the range, but this Nude Pink one is the loveliest every day shade, and the greatest top coat for any pink lip liner.
